Lullaby
Nestled in arms, chiseled like a crater, dusted soft with light
Speckled hairs, she lowered her glance and drew her lids like an eclipse.
Breathing in a scent that was not a glance of some moonlit night,
But a light flitter of some distant spring. She felt a dream, that was not a dream,
Hovering, trembling like a distant orb quivering amongst the wheeling stars,
Alone, waiting, watching all the world below us.
It came to her, slowly, words slowly stealing from somewhere above her head,
Dripping bits of silver voices, light words streaming through her cloudy hair,
That swelled in this round lunar landscape,
Luminous in the warm smooth light of the moon,
Bringing slumber, looming over a crescent earlobe
Flowing, slow undulation into the deep well, slow words
Looked into the brain, breathed into the lungs,
Beaten to the two half-moon rooms of the heart.
