singapore dreaming
woke up to gym again, it sounds like ive been gymming constantly, but actually there was tuesday when i stayed home and did, amongst other things, nothing. as usual, teck heng got afflicted with his pathological need to get up insidiously late, forgoing my excellent company, leaving me with a bunch of temasek poly kids who were not to mention annoying, but loud, sinister and brutish. okay, should stop ranting about gym users at the risk of sounding old, dry, wrinkly and unsexy.
met teck at tampines, where we went to pasir ris so as to accomplish seats for the long infinite ride towards civilization (dyou know i almost forgot to bring my passport, so almost could not leave tampines village to get to town), where we said some of the bitchiest things we ever said for the past week, regarding british people (no, not those few, just brits in general) amongs other people. met dezhi, who was in a utterly crappy mood, which got transmitted somewhat to teck heng, resulting in a less than satisfactory happy day atmosphere, but hey, at least they're still fun when bitchy crappy and bickering. haha, love you people. in a completely straight, platonic and jocular manner. sheesh, modern society where you have to keep explaining yourself.
watched singapore dreaming finally, and must say
IT IS MUTHAFKING GOOD
yes it is. it is seriously much better than twelve stories (which i thought was excellent, though mutiliated by lum may yee's disgusting acting, although she is eye candy), and much, much much better than all the jack neo's added together. sorry but i really really really hate the xiao hai bu ben kids. the acting was flawless, with yeo yann yann deserving every bit of woochiao's adoration. i mean, she is seriously good, this woman. she felt so pregnant, and cynical and sardonic but still loves (in her own responsible way) her family. listening to her rant speak about her boss makes me feel like listening to my sister. haha lim yu beng surprised too, and oh my god mama was good. i cannot bear seeing pitiful wasted women, ala fat woman from twelve stories, math tr with the -_- face in lt5, etc. ohh so heart wrenching. admittedly symbols and cliches and irony and singaporeaness galore, but it really worked in the film. it tries this silent irony thing, which was really subtle and nice, and used a familiar hokkien song as the backbone tune, which made the whole thing so endearing, so keen and so, well, singaporean. uniquely singaporean, as STB compells me to type, but hey give them a chance. ahhhh the mother the mother. the film is so good, i might buy the dvd. and i din even buy the dvd for lotr. whee shoot me but i love singapore and there is hope for the local arts scene, if they dun fund it. provide aid, but not funding, so the arts ppl can twist their creativity to suit their limited resources, surprising everyone. look at the very well funded jack neo and you get my point.
five fking stars out of two baby, for this very nice sporean film.
it seems project runway is coming up soon, so i should be going off.
reeeeeeeeech
